Every trick-or-treater stopped to read it
I put the Pennywise one out and now the whole street slows down at my steps. Kids dare each other to stand on it. It set the tone for the whole porch before I even hung a single light.

Went with the Scary Hand and it gets a reaction from literally everyone who walks up. It scrapes the mud off boots like a normal mat, then reaches for you the second you look down. Perfect balance of useful and unsettling.
It greets people before I even open the door, and that first little jolt on the step is exactly what I wanted. Holds up to the leaves and the weather too. It looks better dragged through a real October than fresh out of the box.

A doormat is the opening line of your home, and this one lands before a single knock. Guests slow, read it twice, and reach your door already uneasy.

Pick the Pennywise clown stare for the guest who freezes, or the reaching hand for the one who jumps and laughs. Everyone gets greeted before you say a word.

Under the fright it does honest work. The dense pile scrapes boots clean and traps leaves and grime outside, so the scare out front never tracks inside.
